Sea Kayaking Island of Colonsay
The perfect size for a weekend of exploration or you may well want to relax and take a day or two more. We meet in Oban at Sea Kayak Oban and select our sea kayaks and load them with our gear and put them on small trolleys and take them for a short walk to the Colonsay Ferry. A 2hr ferry ride often seeing dolphins or porpoises takes us to this Idyllic island with its sandy beaches and rocky headlands. The singing Atlantic seal colonies & otters approach to see what we are upto and we camp on breezy headlands with short grass. We try and time our return to the ferry to get a meal at the Colonsay Hotel before the relaxing trip back to Oban.
This trip is aimed at people who can cope with swells and force 3 winds & waves and have probably had 6 day previous sea kayaking.
However we can take bespoke groups that are less experienced and explore the more sheltered areas. This includes our 5 day Sea Kayak Intro that starts in Oban on a Monday & moves to Colonsay on the Wednesday.
Weekend trips catch the 1700 ferry on a friday eve from Oban & returns on the 2005 ferry from Colonsay arriving 2225 in Oban.
Midweek trips catch the 15.40 on Wednesday and return on the 1935 from Colonsay arriving Oban 2155.
